53: Something out of place
Not far from Matria Rd is a site that has basalt columns that not only look out of place - they ARE out of place. That is a key to most finds. These big and heavy columns have been removed from where volcanic activity pushed them out of the ground and have been specifically dumped there. This was to hide a hole exposed from a bulldozer as it began to extend a road (which is why it is called Matria Rd extension). It would take four men to lift one and some would take eight men. That should tell you something. They were dropped from the paddock above and many are broken as a result then replaced by a digger. It is a site close to where the incised boulders that sit at Turangawaewae Marae came from. There are two other suspicious points in the area. Below are photos of what I believe covers the cave entrance, but it will also mean that if the cave they were buried in was a dry cave, that water will have filled or damaged it unless it is well drained. One day we will find out. Near the creek 100m away is another spot that 'feels'weird if you know what I mean. It's like you are on top of something but cannot see it. It is also close to a very faintly inscribed rock that matches a symbol from the Pitcairn petroglyphs. At Pitcairn there is another pattern that closely resembles the one at the bottom of this post which is on a rock at Turangawaewae.
Many know of this strange area, but it would require a mammoth effort to remove these rocks as some are 6' long. Therefore this will not happen until we expose evidence to the world that the tall ones do exist and force the issue to get official government recognition of these true tangata whenua, ensure Maori have no part in their exposure or ongoing research, and then get an organised group to examine all these sites properly and openly. That will allow many to go public with what they have found and will bring to the fore many things few knew about and will debunk a few other claims as well.
Trust me, it will happen one day soon if we can finish our main task unnoticed.
