63: Rēkohu & Rangiaotea Island artefacts
On 19th March we posted up a drawing of an artefact found on Chatham Island (Rekohu). The item was unusual but the pattern on it 'unusualer' still. It had similarities to the Matira inscribed rock design. That rock now sits damaged and forgotten at the Turangawaewae Marae.
Digging on the internet is way less dusty an sweaty but we are good at that too. I now had a contact at the museum in the Chatham Islands locate the item and get pics sent from where it was held. Here they are. The first one is the 'bonito' fish with the linear pattern and the second one is another odd items from Pitt Island (Rangiaotea).
There is much more out there that has been found that few see and I will try to dig up as much of that as possible while we work on our main task.
