Sidestep: Waitaha Artefacts

We've all heard the name Waitaha. Some say they were here before Maori and were a group of many pre-Polynesian ancients. Regardless, their artifacts were similar but different. Who knows what else we will find in the cave...artefacts would be an added bonus, helping to access the age of death and origin of those inside.

Below are some artefacts noted as Waitaha origin by the musuems that hold them.

Left to right...

1: Southland (1250)

2: Marlborough (1150)

3: Southland (1350)

4: Waitaki (unknown)

5: Southland (1300)

6: Waitaki (1300)

Here are some more...(click to enlarge)

The last one is a photo of Noel Hilliam's pou dug up near Dargaville
