135: Dig Progression
We said in the last post that those following us for a while would have seen our progress. For those who haven't, or are too lazy to search the database, here is something that will help. We are probably the only ones in the world doing this.
So, being aware of what we are attempting, and how far we have managed to get inside...This is a rough progression of progress, from the first in 2016 (showing the first three metres with only a 15-20cm gap from fill to tube roof), widening, digging down to floor, and the far reaches (last photo) some 23m inside. The photos show right up until the most recent dig. Click on the first photo of each row and take a closer look.
We weren't going to show the bones we found. In the last post we mentioned one particular 'bone of contention'. You can find pictures on other previous posts. Show us anyone else suggesting pre-Polynesian inhabitants who is doing the mahi like we are to back up their claims. There might be, but at least we are quite open about what we are doing....
Some have asked why we take so much fill out and not remove just enoguh to move forward. There are a number of reasons...safety, comfort and airflow. The further we go in, the more importat these three things are...

Oh what the heck - here is a photo of our bone found in the fill (row 4 photo 3 above) alongside a plastic femur from a normal human adult measuring 46cm (therefore a male of 5'8"). We have drawn on the picture were we are sure the lines of the breaks in the old bone would be based on shape and angle whihc is hard for you to see by the photo. What do you think? This bone is about 70% of it's full length (if it were whole). The measurement therefore is approx 65cm/26.74%= 217cm tall. That means the individual (probably male) was some 7'11" tall. Even if it was 7'6" that would be something. This therefore is one of the same ancient tall race of pre-Polynesians who lie inside the cave. Many more lie undiscovered elsewhere but when found (during construction or excavation) are secreted away to hide the truth of who was here first.
